Final illustration...

For my final illustration, I selected my favourite of Rivrain's illustrations and added felt tips and a background in the style of Fleur, as well as highlighting the mask on the face.

Collaborating both illustrators...

After having attempted my own interpretations of both Fleur and Rivrain's illustrations, I began to collaborate both of their techniques to achieve an illustration that represented both. When I was looking at each illustrator individually, I was able to decide which techniques and styles I liked best from each. These were, Fleur's free and colourful use of felt tip pens, and Rivrain's poses and masks used throughout his illustrations. So after putting both these together I was very pleased with the outcome.

As well as using felt tips, I also used Fleur's style of background in this illustration.

I am very pleased with how these collaborations have turned out and enjoyed doing these illustrations.

Breaking down Cedric Rivrain's illustrations...

When I began my interpretations of Cedric Rivrain's illustrations, I realised how difficult they were, as they are very life like. I found them a lot more difficult and time consuming than Fleur's as well as less enjoyable to do. this was probably due to the lack of colour compared to Fleur's as well as the minimal room for error as his illustrations are very precise.
To begin, i took Rivrains's faces and worked on the eyes, lips and masks which he often uses.

These faces took alot of practice, as the difficulty was increased by the lack of clour Rivrain uses in his backgrounds.
After I completed these faces, I moved on to attempting more of Rivrain's illustrations, adding colour etc where possible.

Breaking down Antoinetter Fleur's illustrations...

To begin my breakdown of Fleur's illustrations, I attempted one of her close up ones of a face. although Fleur uses felt tip pens for her illustartions, I started with pencil until I got the feel of the drawing and the confidence for felt tips.

I started off very basically with this illustration, just to try and understand Fleur's technique.
After this, I began to take on more of Fleur's illustrations, slowy developing them and addidng colour. All of this was in order to build up to using felt tips like Fleur.

When doing these illustrations, I was happy with how my technique was developing, although i felt like something was missing. The illustrations wern't lively enough like Fleur's and lacked colour, all of which I realised is added by the use of the felt tip pens.
At this stage I decided to attempt the my interpretattion of Fleur's illustrations with felt tips and see if they came to life like the way Fleur's do!
This was my first attempt with the felt tips and already I felt alot happier with my illustrations.

After doing several illustrations, I was very happy with how my technique had developed and was happy with the outcome. I understand now why Fleur relies on the felt tip, as they are fun and free and add life to the illustrations.
